I am so into seasonal strawberries!  They are amazingly delicious when they're fresh out of the fields, brilliant red all the way through, and practically dripping with sweet juice when you bite into them.

But want to know what makes fresh seasonal strawberries even better?  Topping them with this quick-to-whip-up toffee sauce!  Oh, yes indeed, it does.

Deliciousness just doesn't get much easier than this.

Fresh Strawberries with Toffee Sauce is such a simple and delicious dessert perfect for enjoying those juicy spring berries.

For this really easy, yet impressive and delicious dessert, simply slice up some fresh strawberries and drizzle them with a little bit of rich homemade toffee sauce.

Rich homemade toffee sauce that just so happens to be chock full of tasty little toffee bits and takes all of about 10 minutes to make.  Deliciousness just doesn't get much easier than that.

Making this oh-so-delicious quick & easy toffee sauce truly is easy.

Just combine some sugar, whipping cream, Karo (corn) syrup, and butter in a small saucepan.  Bring the mixture to a boil, and take it off the heat immediately after it reaches the boiling point.

Let the sugar mixture cool for about 10 minutes. Then, stir in some crushed Heath Bars or Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits.

That's all there is to it!

Not familiar with Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits?  They can be found in the baking aisle of the grocery store, in the same area as chocolate chips.

The chocolate from the crushed Heath Bars or Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits will melt into the warm sugar mixture, creating a fabulousy creamy sauce loaded with crunchy toffee bits and rich toffee flavor.

That wonderful toffee flavor pairs beautifully with the sweet, juicy strawberries.

Once the sauce cools, drizzle a few spoonfuls over a bowl of sliced berries ...

Then top the berries with a dollop of whipped cream or creme freche.  And there you have it ~ amazingly delicious Strawberries with Toffee Sauce.

Pretty, isn't it?  And pretty tasty, too!

But hey, don't feel like drizzling?  Then go for the straight dunk!  Mmmm, hmmmm -- dunking whole strawberries in the toffee sauce is incredibly tasty, too.

Either way you dive into this sauce, -- drizzled or dunked -- trust me, your tummy will thank you.  Because this simple dessert is sure one very tasty way to enjoy those fresh strawberries.

Prep time: 20 MCook time: 5 MTotal time: 25 M

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c. whipping cream
  • 1/4 c. light Karo syrup (corn syrup)
  • 2 T. unsalted butter
  • 1/2 c. crushed Heath Bars or Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits*
  • fresh strawberries, hulled & sliced

Instructions:

  1. Combine sugar, whipping cream, Karo syrup, and butter in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, and immediately remove from the heat once it reaches a boil.
  2. Let cool for about 10 minutes. Stir in crushed Heath Bars or toffee bits.
  3. Allow to cool to room temperature or chill before serving. If Toffee Sauce is too stiff when ready to serve, warm for a few seconds in the microwave.
  4. Place sliced strawberries in individual serving bowls.  Drizzle with Toffee Sauce, and top with whipped cream or creme freche if desired.
TRACEY'S NOTES:
  1. *Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits can be found in the baking aisle of the grocery store, in the same area as chocolate chips. Be sure to get the Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits, not the plain toffee bits. You need the milk chocolate on the bits to melt into the sauce.
  2. Store leftover Toffee Sauce in a covered container in the refrigerator.  Warm slightly in the microwave when ready to use.
