Pizza is hands-down my favorite food.  And I like pretty much any kind.  Plain cheese ... sure.  Pepperoni & mushroom ... love.  Wacked out crazy flavor combinations ... absolutely.  "The Works" ... bring it on.

As I kid, I loved it when my parents decided it was pizza night.  And I especially loved it when we got pizza "with the works."  You know "the works," right?  Pizza with just about everything on it.  Even as a kid, I loved it.

Well the other night, I decided to enjoy my pizza with the works in a different form.  I decided to give it a whirl in deliciously ooey-cheesy hot dip form.

Now, I'm going to make a confession here. -- I have a really bad habit of getting pizza for dinner when my husband goes out of town.  Now, that in and of itself is not so bad.

The bad part is I tend to over indulge in said pizza.  It just kind of keeps calling my name from the refrigerator. You know how it is, right?  That little pizza voice calling out, "Eat me!  Eat me!"  And before I know it, I've eaten way more than I should.

So when my husband went out of town this weekend, I changed up my pizza habit a bit.  I decided I might be able to demonstrate a teeny bit more restraint with pizza dip than with the big ol' pizza pie itself.

I whipped up a batch of this "The Works" Pizza Dip, complete with all the flavors of a delicious loaded-with-everything pizza.

And then chips in hand, I dove in.

Ahhhhhhh, pizza craving satisfied.  And with maybe just a teeny tiny bit more restraint than with  an actual pizza itself.

I love that not only does "The Works" Pizza Dip taste amazing, it's super easy to make too.

Grab classic "the works" pizza toppings, layer them up, and pop them in the oven to bake. -- That's all there is to it.  But if you don't' like all the flavors of "the works," whip up a simpler version like our Baked Pizza Dip, loaded simply with cheese and pepperoni.

This recipe is very flexible, so adjust toppings to suit your personal taste.

To make a batch of this cheesy dip, start by combining cream cheese, a little mayonnaise, and some shredded mozzarella cheese. Spread this mixture in the bottom of a pie plate to form the dip's creamy base.

Top the cream cheese mixture with jarred spaghetti or pizza sauce.

Then sprinkle on a layer of "the works" pizza toppings -- chopped pepperoni, cooked sausage crumbles, finely chopped green pepper, sliced green onions, and some chopped fresh mushrooms if you'd like.

This recipe is very flexible, so adjust toppings to suit your personal taste.

For ease and convenience, I use the pre-cooked sausage crumbles that come in a little pouch.  They're found with the bacon, sausage patties, and bulk sausage in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.  You can certainly fry up your own sausage, if preferred.

Load up a good bit of shredded mozzarella on top of the toppings layer.  And then add on a few more whole pepperoni slices and a little sprinkling of sausage crumbles.

Pop the assembled dip in the oven and bake until it's just beginning to get some lightly browned spots on top and is nice and bubbly around the edges.

Then while it's nice and hot, grab some tortilla chips, Fritos Scoops, crackers, or even baguette slices and dive on into the deliciousness!

And enjoy all the flavors of loaded-with-everything pizza, in scrumptiously cheesy hot dip form.
