On this day after Thanksgiving, it's time to turn our thoughts to Christmas.
And what better way to get the season started than with a
mouthwatering mug of Mocha Eggnog? Make it in punch-sized
batches or single mugs, spiked or not, and served warm or chilled.
It's the perfect holiday drink for one or a crowd!

It's Black Friday! Can you guess where I'm not?? That's
right! - I'm absolutely not out in the throngs of holiday shopper
crowds. My dad ventured out into the mall crowds this morning. But mom and I decidedly did not. We chose instead, on this
day after Thanksgiving, to turn our thoughts to Christmas in ways other than shopping.
Like by enjoying a mouthwatering mug of Mocha Eggnog.
And by tackling a Black Friday Christmas project that involved these:
Yes! Mom and I decided to spend our day putting up her Christmas tree.
Last year, our turn-our-thoughts-toward-Christmas Black Friday project was making these family-favorite
Candy Cane Cookies
...
But this year we decided to decorate the tree instead. It takes us
a good while. Because there is lots of stuff to put on ... lots of lights ... lots of gold bead garland ... burgundy velvet
bows ...
And gorgeous handmade burgundy and gold ribbon-trimmed ornaments, made
by my mom herself. She's such a talented lady. Aren't they beautiful?
Of course, there need to be beverage breaks.
And this Mocha Eggnog is the perfect excuse to take a break.
I love the versatility of this easy Mocha Eggnog variation. Simply mix together prepared eggnog, coffee, and some chocolate syrup -- and you've got scrumptious Mocha Eggnog. It's as easy as that!
And now here's
where the versatility comes in ...
Want to serve it for a crowd? Perhaps as an eggnog punch? Great! -- Mix up a big ol' batch. Want to simply enjoy a mug full for
yourself? That's great, too! Just mix up a single serving at a
time.
Want it spiked? No problem! Use Creme de Cacao instead of
chocolate syrup, or use both. You still get that great
coffee-and-chocolate flavor, but with a little added bonus.
Like your eggnog warm? Or, like it better chilled? Either way
works with this version. I think this eggnog tastes great both ways,
but personally do like it just a teeny tiny bit better warm.
Oh, and then there's the toppings. Versatility there, too.
I top mine with a squirt of whipped cream, a bit of shaved chocolate, and a
tiny sprinkling of ground nutmeg. And then drop a chocolate covered
coffee bean right in the middle.
But you could certainly leave it naked if you prefer.
So whatever you've chosen to do with your Black Friday, I hope you're
having a great day!
As for me and mom, we'll be right here finishing up the Christmas tree -- and trying not to drink too much of this delicious Mocha Eggnog.

Mocha Eggnog
What better way to get the holiday season started than with a

- 1/2 c. chocolate syrup {or Creme de Cacao for a spiked version}
- whipped cream {optional}
- shaved chocolate {optional}
- ground nutmeg {optional}
Instructions:
For a Chilled Version:
- Chill prepared coffee.
- Combine eggnog, coffee, and chocolate syrup {or Creme de Cacao} until well combined.
For a Warm Version:
- In a medium saucepan, combine coffee and eggnog; warm over medium heat until heated through.
- Remove from heat and stir in chocolate syrup {or Creme de Cacao}.
To Serve:
- Pour into mugs and top each serving with whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and a tiny sprinkling of ground nutmeg {not too much nutmeg or the flavor will be too overpowering}
TRACEY'S NOTES:
- We love the versatility of this eggnog! It's delicious both chilled and warm, though I do think I like the warm version just a teeny bit more than the chilled. Top it ... or not. Alcohol ... or not. And, make a whole batch as a punch or just a single cup at a time.
- To make just a single cup use 1 cup eggnog, 1/4 cup coffee, and 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup.
- If serving later in the day, consider using decaf coffee.
Very creative. I love coffee and I love eggnog, so I can imagine how yummy this is.
