Loaded with peanut butter, soft & chewy, rolled in sugar, and fork-pattern adorned ~ Grandma's old-fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies are the stuff childhood cookie memories are made of.
I just adored Grandma's peanut butter cookies as a child, and still do. Now they're a favorite of my own daughter's, too. Some classics just stay classics for a reason - Because they're just plain good.
How do you take Grandma's classic cookies and make them even better? Add a dunk of salted dark chocolate, of course!
So how do you take Grandma's classic cookies and make them even better?
Add a dunk of salted dark chocolate, of course!
This idea came to me one day when I was baking up a batch of Grandma's beautiful & tasty old-fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies.
Turns out, that was a beautiful thought.
Because when dipped in chocolate, Grandma's peanut butter cookies taste even more amazing than the original.
Dipping "standard" cookies in some chocolate ... dark, milk, or white ... is a really easy way to elevate pretty much any cookie and add a fun and elegant flair. Simply melt some chocolate in a saucepan or the microwave, dip half of each cookie, and set aside on waxed paper to set. Quick and easy!

Don't have time to bake homemade cookies to dunk? No problem ... dunk some store-bought instead. Even easier, right?
But, for my Salted Dark Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies, I didn't stop at just the chocolate dunk.
And tasty, too. Sweet and salty, soft and chewy, peanut-butter-and-chocolatey. So good.
So when you want to serve up a plateful of cookies with a tasty elegant flair, dunk up a batch of Salted Dark Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies.
I know Grandma will approve.

How to cook Salted Dark Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies
- Place butter and vanilla in a mixing bowl; beat with an electric mixer at medium speed until fluffy, about 2 minutes. While continuing to beat, gradually add brown sugar and granulated sugar; beat until well combined.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition until incorporated. Add peanut butter and beat until combined.
- Add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix on low speed until just combined.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls; place on a cookie sheet. Flatten with a fork dipped in granulated sugar; repeat with the fork turned perpendicular to the first marks to create a cross-hatch pattern.
- Bake at 375℉ for about 9 minutes, or until very lightly browned. Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Melt dark chocolate melting wafers in a small bowl according to package directions. Dip half of a cookie in chocolate; gently shake to allow excess chocolate to drip off back into the bowl. Place cookie on waxed paper and immediately sprinkle with chopped peanuts and a small sprinkling of salt. Repeat with remaining cookies.
- Allow to stand until chocolate sets.
